Can we make robots that feel?

Shall we “retire” Rigoberto?

Many people believe that there are certain typically human capacities that machines will never possess, among them: (1) proper general intelligence, (2) a sense of self, and (3) real “feel”. Kevin O’Regan, theoretician of consciousness from the Integrative Neuroscience and Cognition Center at Paris Descartes University, will suggest that this opinion may just be an example of human chauvinism, and that there is nothing to stop machines from becoming even more intelligent and more humane than humans.

But will you be convinced? Join us to defend your position during an interactive discussion on these issues. And test the boundaries of your relationship with robots when we decide about Rigoberto, an aging household robot, whose life is at risk.

Fri 29 Mar 18:30 PM – 20:30 PM @ CRI – Learning Center Extension

The event is open for everyone. You can register here.
